Greetings to all,
First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for voting me as president of MSR at the last AGM. Since coming back from Birmingham in 1999 upon completion of my rheumatology training, I was roped into MSR by the then President Dr. Keith Lim as committee member, then I was elected treasurer then secretary followed by vice-president and now president. I feel very honoured to be given this opportunity to help MSR grow into a strong society today.
In its early years, there was only a handful of rheumatologists so much so when we organised APLAR in 2006, the same people got to be in so many committees as there was not enough members to go around. Now, we have 71 rheumatologists and fellows.
Indeed MSR has gone a long way from its early days when we used to have committee meetings in the committee members’ houses to our very own tastefully-furnished office. I hope MSR will continue to attract many members who can contribute actively and that more and more doctors aspire to become rheumatologists. The committee has planned several educational and exciting activities with the hope that this will further enhance, share and disseminate our knowledge and bring us together as a committee as well as enable us to interact with other colleagues. I look forward to an active participation by all.
Thank you & God bless.
